Hello there! I'm Talen Naylor, your friendly neighborhood Digital Guidance Guy. My path to this point has been a colorful tapestry of diverse education, a burning passion for technology, and a whole lot of heart! I’m armed with two Bachelor’s Degrees - one in Early Childhood Education from Rio Salado College and another in Accounting from the vibrant halls of Arizona State University (Go Sun Devils!). My academic adventures have been as rich and varied as my own interests.
I've also earned my stripes with a Google IT Support Certificate, a testament to my commitment to the tech world, which you can check out here.
My professional voyage began with an internship at a CPA firm in Phoenix, AZ, diving deep into the intricacies of small business tax returns. But soon enough, I discovered that the traditional office setting wasn't quite my cup of tea. Inspired by the iconic Detective John Kimball from 'Kindergarten Cop', I took a leap into the rewarding realm of education. Armed with my California Teaching License, I embarked on a journey as a Kindergarten teacher, starting at Bridges Preschool and then finding a home at Wood Elementary in the Tempe Elementary School District.
After four joy-filled years teaching Kindergarten in Tempe, destiny called me to the Golden State of California. I embraced the role of Pre-K Teacher at KinderCare in Thousand Oaks, a journey filled with laughter and learning, including the unforgettable experience of teaching my two amazing sons in my very own classroom.
Today, I wear the hat of a Technology Teacher at St. Patrick's Day School in Thousand Oaks, CA. This exciting role has allowed me to marry my love for teaching with my tech-savvy nature, sowing the seeds for The Digital Guidance Guy.
As a dad to two incredible boys, ages eight and six, life is an endless adventure. Whether I'm coaching their Flag Football, tee-ball, little league baseball, or soccer teams, every moment is a thrill. Off the field, my world is filled with hobbies like golf, disc golf, diving into the world of fantasy sports, unwinding with a good book, exploring the realms of coding, and channeling my creative spirit into writing. Keep an eye out for my upcoming book, "The Great Narwhal Race" – it’s going to be a splash!
